A bus carrying senior pilgrims from Bari village in the Mohali constituency departed for a religious and historical journey on 13 August 2026 under the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme.
The pilgrimage will take the elderly devotees to several important religious and historical destinations, including Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Temple, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh, and the Partition Museum. The journey will give the pilgrims an opportunity to visit revered religious sites as well as places associated with Punjab’s history and heritage.
The Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme is aimed at facilitating pilgrimage for senior citizens by providing organised travel arrangements and essential facilities during the journey. Under the arrangements for the pilgrimage, the participating elders will be provided accommodation and meals by the Punjab Government.
The departure from Bari village was marked by enthusiasm among the senior citizens and local residents. The initiative provides elderly residents an opportunity to undertake a pilgrimage together and visit destinations of religious, cultural, and historical significance.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme is an important welfare initiative for senior citizens. He said that organised pilgrimage facilities allow elderly residents to undertake religious journeys with greater comfort and convenience.
He wished all the pilgrims a safe and peaceful journey and expressed hope that their visit to the religious and historical sites would be spiritually fulfilling and memorable. The pilgrimage bus departed from Bari village with the participating senior citizens, with travel arrangements along with accommodation and meals being provided under the scheme
