A bus carrying senior pilgrims from Dhelpur village in the Mohali constituency departed for a religious and historical journey on 13 August 2026 under the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme.
The elderly pilgrims will visit several important religious and historical destinations, including Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Temple, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh, and the Partition Museum. The pilgrimage provides senior citizens with an opportunity to visit revered religious sites while also experiencing places associated with Punjab’s cultural and historical heritage.
The Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme is intended to make pilgrimage more accessible to senior citizens through organised travel arrangements. During the journey, the participating pilgrims will be provided accommodation and meals by the Punjab Government, allowing them to undertake the pilgrimage without having to make separate arrangements for these essential facilities.
The departure from Dhelpur was marked by enthusiasm among the elderly pilgrims and local residents. The journey brings together senior citizens from the village for a shared spiritual experience and a visit to some of the most significant religious and historical destinations in Punjab.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme provides valuable support to senior citizens who wish to undertake religious journeys. He said that organised travel and essential facilities make such pilgrimages more comfortable and accessible for elderly residents.
He wished all the pilgrims a safe, peaceful, and spiritually fulfilling journey and prayed for their good health and well-being. The pilgrimage bus departed from Dhelpur village with the senior citizens, with travel, accommodation, and meals being arranged under the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme
