The long-awaited strengthening work of the link road connecting the Kharar–Banur road to Raipur Kalan officially began today, bringing relief and optimism for residents who regularly travel through the route.
The project was launched under the guidance of Bhagwant Mann through the Public Works Department (B&R), Punjab, with Kulwant Singh laying the foundation stone and flagging off the construction work.
The road serves as an important rural connection for nearby villages and daily commuters travelling between local agricultural areas and surrounding urban regions. Residents say damaged stretches and uneven surfaces had been causing inconvenience for years, especially during monsoon seasons and heavy traffic movement.
Speaking during the launch event, Kulwant Singh said the Punjab Government is committed to ensuring that development reaches every village and rural region of Mohali constituency.
“Road connectivity plays a major role in improving people’s daily lives. Stronger infrastructure means safer travel, easier transportation and better access for villages,” he said.
He further added that the government is continuously focusing on strengthening public infrastructure while ensuring quality construction standards in every project.
Panchayat members present during the ceremony appreciated the initiative and thanked the Punjab Government for prioritising rural infrastructure development.
Local residents expressed confidence that the upgraded road would improve transportation facilities, reduce travel inconvenience and strengthen connectivity between Raipur Kalan and nearby areas.
Villagers also pointed out that better road conditions would help farmers, students and working residents who depend on the route for daily movement and access to nearby markets and institutions.
Unlike earlier years where several rural roads remained neglected for long periods, residents said development work is now becoming visible across multiple villages of Mohali constituency.
The event witnessed participation from Panchayat representatives, local residents and party workers from nearby villages.
As construction machinery begins work on the Kharar–Banur to Raipur Kalan route, many residents see the project as another step toward improving rural infrastructure and connectivity across Mohali constituency.
