Aam Aadmi Party candidate Sarabjeet Singh Samana registered a resounding victory from Ward No. 42 in the Mohali Municipal Corporation elections, securing an overwhelming mandate from voters and completing a remarkable electoral hat-trick in his political career.
The results, declared on May 29 following polling held on May 26, saw Sarabjeet Singh emerge as the clear winner with 505 votes out of a total 655 votes polled. The scale of the victory was such that candidates of all three major opposition parties — Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) — failed to save their deposits.
According to the official results, the Congress candidate secured 47 votes, while the BJP candidate received 38 votes. The Shiromani Akali Dal candidate managed 22 votes. Additionally, 13 voters opted for NOTA, while 3 votes were rejected during the counting process.
The victory marks Sarabjeet Singh Samana’s third consecutive electoral success in Municipal Corporation elections. Having previously won from Ward No. 15 (Phase 10) and later from Ward No. 38 (Sector 71), he has now secured a decisive mandate from Ward No. 42, which includes parts of Sectors 89 and 94. The achievement highlights his ability to earn the confidence of voters across different parts of Mohali over the years.
Political observers attribute the victory not only to the organisational strength of the Aam Aadmi Party but also to Sarabjeet Singh’s reputation as a grassroots leader with a strong connect among residents.
