Punjab’s ₹10 Lakh Free Health Insurance Scheme Under Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna

The Punjab government continues to strengthen public healthcare services through the implementation of the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna (MMSY), a major health insurance initiative aimed at providing financial protection and accessible medical treatment to families across the state. Under the leadership of Bhagwant Mann, the scheme has been designed to ensure that quality healthcare becomes accessible to every eligible resident of Punjab.

The scheme provides cashless medical treatment coverage of up to ₹10 lakh per family annually for secondary and tertiary hospitalization. Residents can avail treatment across government hospitals as well as empanelled private hospitals, reducing the financial burden associated with serious medical emergencies and healthcare expenses.

One of the key highlights of the initiative is its broad accessibility. The scheme covers bona fide residents of Punjab without any income limit restrictions, including government employees, pensioners, and contract workers. More than 2,300 medical and surgical treatment packages have been included under the program, covering diagnostics, consultations, hospitalization, and post-treatment care. Citizens can obtain their health cards through Seva Kendras and Common Service Centres (CSCs), while digital registration and eligibility verification facilities are also being promoted through online platforms and mobile applications. The initiative reflects the Punjab government’s continued focus on strengthening healthcare infrastructure and improving public welfare services across the state
