Sewerage pipeline work costing around ₹1.5 crore has commenced in Phase 7 of Mohali on 7 August 2026, marking an important step towards improving the sewerage infrastructure of the area. The project is expected to provide relief from sewerage-related problems affecting residents of Phase 7, Phase 3B2 and Phase 2.
The new pipeline infrastructure is aimed at strengthening the existing sewerage network and improving the flow and disposal of wastewater in the affected areas. Residents of these localities have been facing sewerage-related concerns, particularly during periods when the existing network comes under pressure. The commencement of the work is therefore expected to improve the overall functioning of the sewerage system and provide a more reliable civic service.
The project involves the laying of a new sewerage pipeline and associated infrastructure required to connect and strengthen the existing network. Once completed, the work is expected to improve wastewater management and reduce the recurring problems associated with sewer blockages, overflow, and inadequate sewerage capacity in the surrounding areas.
Speaking about the project, MLA Kulwant Singh said that improving basic civic infrastructure remains an important priority for the Mohali constituency. He said that the commencement of the sewerage pipeline project would provide relief to residents of Phase 7, Phase 3B2 and Phase 2 and address an important local infrastructure requirement.
He added that development works related to essential services such as sewerage, drainage, roads, sanitation, and water supply directly affect the everyday lives of residents and therefore require continuous attention. The project is being taken forward with the objective of providing a more effective and dependable sewerage system to the affected localities.
The approximately ₹1.5 crore investment in the project reflects the focus on upgrading existing urban infrastructure and addressing long-standing civic requirements in Mohali. With the work now underway, residents are expected to see improvements in sewerage management once the project is completed and the upgraded network becomes operational. The project is another step towards strengthening basic municipal infrastructure in Mohali and improving civic services for residents of the surrounding phases.
