Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana joined the 80th Independence Day celebrations at Government College, Phase 6, SAS Nagar Mohali, where he participated in the national flag-hoisting ceremony and extended warm wishes to the people on the occasion.
The programme was attended by Punjab Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO, along with students, faculty members, public representatives, and members of the local community. The national flag was hoisted with due respect, followed by a tribute to the martyrs whose sacrifices played a vital role in India’s struggle for independence.
During the programme, Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana remembered the freedom fighters and martyrs who made the supreme sacrifices for the country. He said that Independence Day is not only an occasion to celebrate India’s freedom but also an opportunity to remember the courage, dedication, and sacrifices of those who contributed to the nation’s independence.
Addressing those gathered on the occasion, Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO paid tribute to the martyrs and called upon people, particularly the younger generation, to draw inspiration from their courage and commitment. He emphasised the importance of carrying forward the values and spirit with which the freedom fighters worked for the country.
Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana said that the sacrifices of the martyrs continue to inspire citizens to contribute positively to society. He emphasised that the progress of the country depends on responsible citizens who work with honesty, dedication, and a commitment to public welfare.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana said that Independence Day is a reminder of the immense sacrifices made by the martyrs and freedom fighters who secured the country’s freedom. He extended his heartfelt Independence Day wishes to the people of Mohali and said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government remains committed to the development and welfare of the people. He called upon everyone to adopt the values of courage, service, discipline, and patriotism inspired by the martyrs and contribute towards the progress of Punjab and the country. The Independence Day celebrations at Government College, Phase 6, reflected the spirit of patriotism and collective remembrance. As Mohali continues to develop, the values of responsible citizenship, public service, and community participation remain important in building a stronger and more progressive society
