Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana today flagged off a bus carrying elderly pilgrims from Sector-67, Mohali, under the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme. The pilgrimage aims to provide senior citizens with an opportunity to visit important religious, historical and cultural places.

During the pilgrimage, the elderly pilgrims will visit Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Temple, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh and the Partition Museum, along with other significant places. After completing the pilgrimage, the group will return to Mohali.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana extended his best wishes to all the pilgrims for a safe and spiritually fulfilling journey. He said that such initiatives provide elderly residents an opportunity to visit places of religious and historical importance with greater convenience.

Under the scheme, the government will provide the pilgrims with arrangements for accommodation and food during the journey. This is intended to make the pilgrimage more comfortable and accessible for the participating senior citizens.

The flag-off programme at Sector-67 witnessed the presence of elderly pilgrims and members of the local community. Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana interacted with the pilgrims and wished them a peaceful and memorable journey.

The pilgrimage reflects an effort to facilitate senior citizens in visiting important religious and historical destinations while ensuring that necessary arrangements are made for them throughout the journey.
