Senior citizens from Chilla village in SAS Nagar Mohali were flagged off on 11 July 2026 for a spiritual journey under the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme, a welfare initiative of the Punjab Government aimed at enabling elderly citizens to visit important religious and historical destinations with dignity and comfort. The initiative reflects the government’s continued focus on the welfare of senior citizens under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
MLA Kulwant Singh participated in the flag-off ceremony and extended his best wishes to the pilgrims for a safe, peaceful, and spiritually enriching journey. Under the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme, the Punjab Government has made arrangements to provide all essential facilities to the pilgrims throughout the tour, ensuring that senior citizens can undertake the pilgrimage without financial or logistical concerns.
During the pilgrimage, the devotees will visit some of Punjab’s most revered religious and historical landmarks, including Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Temple, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh, and the Partition Museum. The journey offers senior citizens an opportunity to seek spiritual blessings while learning about Punjab’s rich religious, cultural, and historical heritage in a well-organised and secure environment.
The Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme has become an important public welfare initiative for elderly citizens across Punjab. By providing organised transportation, travel assistance, and other essential facilities, the scheme enables senior citizens to fulfil their spiritual aspirations while promoting social inclusion and community welfare. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that senior citizens deserve every opportunity to undertake spiritual journeys with dignity, safety, and convenience.
