Mohali, August 22, 2026: Three buses carrying senior citizens from Maujpur, Gobindgarh and Chachumajra villages in the Mohali constituency were flagged off on August 22 under the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme.
The pilgrimage will take the elderly devotees to several important religious, cultural and historical destinations, including Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Temple, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh and the Partition Museum.
The journey will provide senior residents from the three villages with an opportunity to visit some of Punjab’s most significant religious and historical sites. The participation of elderly residents from different villages also highlights the reach of the government-supported pilgrimage initiative in rural areas.
Travel, Accommodation and Meals Arranged
Under the arrangements for the pilgrimage, participating devotees will be provided travel facilities, accommodation and meals during the journey by the Punjab Government.
These arrangements are intended to make the pilgrimage more convenient and comfortable for senior citizens by reducing the need for them to independently manage essential travel and stay arrangements.
The departure of the buses was marked by enthusiasm among the pilgrims and local residents. Family members, friends and villagers gathered to extend their good wishes to the senior citizens before they began their journey.
Kulwant Singh Wishes Pilgrims a Safe Journey
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme is an important initiative for senior citizens, giving them an opportunity to visit revered religious places and historically significant destinations in an organised manner.
He said that arrangements for transportation, accommodation and food make it easier for elderly residents to undertake such journeys comfortably.
Kulwant Singh extended his best wishes to all the pilgrims and prayed for their safe, peaceful and spiritually fulfilling journey. He also wished them good health and well-being and expressed hope that the pilgrimage would provide them with memorable experiences.
Pilgrims Set Out on Religious and Historical Journey
The destinations included in the pilgrimage will allow the participants to experience places that hold deep religious, cultural and historical significance.
