In a fitting tribute to one of Punjab’s most loved entertainers, the Mohali administration has named a prominent roundabout in Sector 62 after legendary Punjabi actor, comedian and educationist Dr. Jaswinder Singh Bhalla. The junction, located near PUDA Bhawan and the Punjab School Education Board, will now officially be known as Dr. Jaswinder Singh Bhalla Chowk.
The dedication ceremony was held on Monday to commemorate Dr. Bhalla’s birth anniversary and was attended by public representatives, members of the Punjabi film fraternity, educationists, artists and hundreds of admirers who gathered to celebrate his extraordinary contribution to Punjabi culture.
The decision to name the chowk after Dr. Bhalla reflects the state’s recognition of his decades-long contribution to Punjabi cinema, theatre and comedy. Known for his clean humour and socially relevant satire, Dr. Bhalla entertained audiences across generations while promoting Punjabi language and culture through his work.
