Senior citizens from SAS Nagar Mohali embarked on a spiritual journey as a special bus under the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme was flagged off from Sector 70, Mohali. The initiative, launched by the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is aimed at providing elderly citizens with an opportunity to visit prominent religious and historical places with comfort, dignity, and full government support.
The pilgrimage includes visits to Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Temple, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh, and the Partition Museum in Amritsar. These destinations hold immense religious, cultural, and historical importance, allowing pilgrims to seek spiritual blessings while also experiencing Punjab’s rich heritage and history.
Before the departure of the bus, Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana interacted with the senior citizens and extended his best wishes for a safe, comfortable, and spiritually fulfilling journey. He expressed happiness that elderly residents of Mohali were being provided with an opportunity to undertake a well-organised pilgrimage without having to worry about travel arrangements or other logistical challenges.
The Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme has been introduced with the objective of making religious travel accessible to senior citizens across Punjab. Under the scheme, the Punjab Government has arranged transportation and all essential facilities to ensure that pilgrims can complete their journey comfortably. Every effort has been made to provide a safe and convenient travel experience so that participants can focus on their spiritual journey.
The initiative has been warmly welcomed by senior citizens, many of whom consider it a meaningful opportunity to visit revered religious places that they may not have been able to travel to on their own. Along with promoting spiritual well-being, the programme also reflects the government’s commitment to improving the quality of life of elderly citizens through inclusive welfare initiatives.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana said that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is committed to implementing welfare programmes that directly benefit people from every section of society. He said that the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme is a thoughtful initiative that enables senior citizens to undertake religious journeys with dignity and convenience. He added that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure that the pilgrims receive every facility throughout their journey and return home with cherished memories and spiritual fulfilment. The departure of the pilgrimage bus from Sector 70 reflects the continued focus on citizen welfare and inclusive governance in Mohali. Alongside infrastructure development and improved civic services, initiatives that support senior citizens and strengthen community well-being remain an important part of the Punjab Government’s vision for development. Through such programmes, Mohali continues to promote public welfare while preserving the cultural and spiritual values that are deeply rooted in society.
