Senior citizens from Dhurali village in SAS Nagar Mohali embarked on a special pilgrimage journey as a bus under the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme was flagged off from the village. The initiative, launched by the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is aimed at providing elderly citizens with an opportunity to visit prominent religious and historical destinations with comfort, dignity, and complete government support.
The pilgrimage itinerary includes visits to Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Temple, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh, and the Partition Museum in Amritsar. These destinations hold deep religious, cultural, and historical significance, offering pilgrims an opportunity to seek spiritual blessings while also learning about Punjab’s rich heritage and history.
Before the departure of the bus, Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana met the senior citizens and conveyed his best wishes for a safe and memorable journey. He interacted with the pilgrims and expressed satisfaction that elderly residents of Mohali were being provided with an opportunity to undertake a well-organised pilgrimage without having to bear the burden of travel arrangements or associated expenses.
The Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme has been introduced to ensure that senior citizens can undertake religious journeys in a safe and comfortable environment. During the pilgrimage, the Punjab Government has made arrangements for transportation and other essential facilities so that participants can complete their journey without inconvenience. The initiative reflects the government’s focus on improving the quality of life of senior citizens through citizen-centric welfare programmes.
Many of the pilgrims welcomed the initiative, describing it as a meaningful opportunity to visit revered religious places that they had long wished to see. The departure of the pilgrimage bus from Dhurali village reflects the continued emphasis on public welfare and inclusive governance in Mohali.
