With the monsoon season approaching, Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana conducted an extensive inspection of civic infrastructure works in Sector 70, Sector 71, Phase 4, Corporation Lights area and other adjoining parts of SAS Nagar Mohali. The visit focused on reviewing the condition of sewerage lines, roads, drains, and sanitation arrangements to ensure the city is well prepared to handle heavy rainfall and prevent waterlogging.
During the inspection, the Mayor reviewed the ongoing cleaning of sewerage lines and drains, examined road repair works, and assessed the overall preparedness of the Municipal Corporation. He inspected locations where drainage blockages had been reported and directed officials to ensure that cleaning operations were completed well before the onset of heavy rains. The objective of the inspection was to minimise the risk of flooding, improve drainage efficiency, and maintain smooth movement of traffic during the monsoon season.
Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana stressed the importance of preventive maintenance rather than waiting for problems to arise after rainfall. He instructed the concerned departments to intensify the desilting of drains, remove accumulated waste from sewerage lines, and complete all pending repair works without delay. He also directed officials to regularly monitor vulnerable locations and take immediate corrective action wherever required.
The inspection covered several residential areas where civic infrastructure plays a crucial role in ensuring public safety and convenience during the rainy season. Proper maintenance of roads, drains, and sewerage networks not only helps prevent waterlogging but also protects public health by reducing the chances of overflow and unhygienic conditions. The Mayor emphasized that coordinated efforts by different departments are essential to keep the city’s infrastructure functioning efficiently throughout the monsoon.
During the visit, Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana issued strict instructions to the concerned officers to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and ensure that all blockages in sewerage lines and drains are removed at the earliest. He asked officials to remain vigilant, regularly inspect ongoing works, and respond quickly to any issues reported by residents so that inconvenience to the public can be minimised.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana said that protecting residents from monsoon-related problems is one of the Municipal Corporation’s top priorities. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government is committed to strengthening urban infrastructure and improving civic services across Mohali. He added that regular field inspections help ensure accountability and allow the administration to address problems before they affect the public. He also appealed to residents to cooperate with the Municipal Corporation by keeping drains free from waste and reporting civic issues promptly. The inspection reflects the continued commitment towards strengthening Mohali Infrastructure through proactive planning and timely maintenance of essential civic services. As Mohali Development continues under the Bhagwant Mann Government, the Municipal Corporation remains focused on improving public infrastructure, enhancing sanitation, and ensuring better living conditions for residents across SAS Nagar Mohali, particularly during the challenging monsoon season.
