MLA Kulwant Singh flags off senior citizens from Naraingarh Jhungian under the Chief Minister's Pilgrimage Scheme for a visit to Punjab's prominent religious and historical sites.

Senior citizens from Naraingarh Jhungian village in the SAS Nagar Mohali constituency were flagged off on a pilgrimage journey on 5 July 2026 under the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme, an initiative of the Punjab Government aimed at enabling elderly citizens to visit prominent religious and historical places with dignity and convenience. The programme reflects the government’s continued commitment to social welfare and ensuring that senior citizens have the opportunity to undertake spiritual journeys without financial or logistical concerns.

MLA Kulwant Singh flagged off the bus carrying the elderly pilgrims and extended his best wishes for a safe, comfortable, and spiritually fulfilling journey. Under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government has made arrangements to provide all essential facilities to the pilgrims throughout the tour, ensuring that they can travel with comfort and peace of mind.

During the pilgrimage, the devotees will visit several revered religious and historical destinations, including Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Mandir, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh, and the Partition Museum, along with other places of historical and spiritual significance. The journey has been designed to allow senior citizens to experience Punjab’s rich spiritual, cultural, and historical heritage while strengthening their connection with these important landmarks.

The Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme has emerged as an important public welfare initiative, particularly for elderly citizens who may otherwise find it difficult to undertake such journeys independently. By providing organised transportation and necessary support, the Punjab Government is making religious tourism more accessible while promoting social inclusion and community welfare. The initiative also reflects the government’s broader vision of ensuring that development and welfare programmes benefit every section of society.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that senior citizens have made invaluable contributions to society and deserve opportunities to undertake meaningful spiritual journeys with dignity and comfort. He stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government remains committed to implementing welfare initiatives that improve the quality of life of elderly citizens and strengthen community well-being. He wished all the pilgrims a safe journey and prayed for their good health, happiness, and spiritual fulfilment. The flag-off ceremony concluded with prayers for the successful completion of the pilgrimage. Through initiatives such as the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme, the Punjab Government and MLA Kulwant Singh continue to strengthen public welfare, promote cultural and religious heritage, and enhance the well-being of senior citizens across SAS Nagar Mohali.
