Mohali: Mohali Kings produced a stunning batting performance to chase down a target of 178 in just 13 overs and defeat Jalandhar Warriors by eight wickets in the Sher-E-Punjab T20 League at the I.S. Bindra Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali.

The match was reduced to 14 overs per side, but that did little to slow down the scoring. Jalandhar Warriors posted 177 runs for seven wickets after being asked to bat first, setting Mohali Kings a demanding target of 178.

Jalandhar made an aggressive start, with openers Vishwanath Singh and Prabhsimran Singh putting together 63 runs for the first wicket. Vishwanath scored a quick 40 off 19 balls, while Prabhsimran contributed 37 from 18 deliveries.

After the opening partnership was broken, Jalandhar lost a few wickets in quick succession. Harjas Tandon, however, kept the innings moving with an attacking 37 off just 16 balls.

Abhinav Sharma and Mayank Gupta added useful runs towards the end. Abhinav remained unbeaten on 16 off 10 balls, while Mayank finished unbeaten on 16 off only six deliveries as Jalandhar reached 177 for seven in their allotted 14 overs.

Harpreet Brar was the most successful bowler for Mohali Kings, finishing with figures of two wickets for 24 runs from his three overs.

Mohali Kings’ chase did not begin smoothly. The team lost two early wickets and was struggling at 27 for two, giving Jalandhar an opportunity to put pressure on the batting side.

What followed, however, completely changed the course of the match.

Ramandeep Singh and Anmolpreet Singh joined forces and launched a remarkable counterattack. The pair took control of the chase with powerful strokeplay and kept the required run rate comfortably within reach.

Ramandeep was particularly aggressive, finding the boundary regularly and putting the Jalandhar bowlers under constant pressure. He remained unbeaten on 91 from just 35 balls, hitting eight sixes and six fours.

At the other end, Anmolpreet Singh provided excellent support with an unbeaten 61 off 29 deliveries. His innings included four fours and five sixes.

The two batters added an unbeaten 154-run partnership for the third wicket. After Mohali Kings were reduced to 27 for two, the partnership took the team all the way to 179 for two in just 13 overs.

The eight-wicket victory was therefore achieved with six balls still remaining, underlining the dominance of Mohali’s batting in the second half of the match.

Ramandeep’s unbeaten 91 was the standout performance of the game, while Anmolpreet’s composed half-century ensured that the chase remained under control.

The result gives Mohali Kings another strong performance in the inaugural Sher-E-Punjab T20 League and adds to the excitement around the tournament being played at the PCA Stadium in Mohali.

The league has brought together leading domestic and emerging Punjab cricketers, giving local players an opportunity to compete in a franchise-based T20 competition. With high-scoring matches and strong individual performances already featuring in the tournament, the competition is attracting considerable attention among cricket followers across the state.

For Mohali Kings, the victory will be particularly encouraging after recovering from an early setback in the chase. Losing two wickets for only 27 runs could have put the team under pressure, but the unbeaten partnership between Ramandeep Singh and Anmolpreet Singh turned the match decisively in their favour. The final scorecard told the story of the contest: Jalandhar Warriors 177 for seven in 14 overs, Mohali Kings 179 for two in 13 overs.
