Buses carrying senior devotees from Sector 66, Mohali, departed for a religious and historical pilgrimage on 19 August 2026 under the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme.
The pilgrimage will take the elderly devotees to several important religious and historical destinations, including Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Temple, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh, and the Partition Museum, along with other places of historical significance.
The journey provides senior citizens with an opportunity to visit important religious sites and explore places connected with Punjab’s rich history and heritage. The participation of elderly devotees from Sector 66 reflects the continued interest among senior citizens in undertaking organised pilgrimage journeys under the government scheme.
Under the arrangements for the pilgrimage, the participating devotees will be provided accommodation and meals during the journey by the Punjab Government. This allows the pilgrims to undertake the trip with greater convenience without having to independently manage the essential arrangements associated with travel.
The departure from Sector 66 was marked by enthusiasm among the elderly devotees and local residents. The pilgrims set out for the journey with the opportunity to seek blessings at important religious sites and visit historically significant destinations.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme provides senior citizens with an opportunity to undertake religious journeys in a convenient and organised manner. He said that ensuring essential facilities such as travel, accommodation, and food makes such journeys more accessible for elderly residents.
He wished all the pilgrims a safe and peaceful journey and prayed for their good health and well-being. He expressed hope that the devotees would return with spiritually fulfilling and memorable experiences from their visit. The buses departed from Sector 66 with the senior devotees, with the necessary travel, accommodation, and meal arrangements being provided under the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme
