A bus carrying senior pilgrims from Saneta village in the Mohali constituency departed for a religious and historical journey on 13 August 2026 under the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme. The initiative provides elderly residents with an opportunity to visit important religious and historical destinations with organised travel and other essential facilities.

The pilgrims will visit Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Temple, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh, and the Partition Museum during their journey. The destinations include some of Punjab’s most significant religious, cultural, and historical sites.

The pilgrimage provides senior citizens with an opportunity to undertake a spiritual journey without having to independently arrange the major requirements associated with travel. According to the arrangements under the scheme, the participating pilgrims will be provided accommodation and meals during the journey by the Punjab Government.

The departure from Saneta was marked by enthusiasm among the elderly pilgrims and local residents. The initiative has also provided an opportunity for senior citizens from the village to travel together and visit important places of religious and historical significance.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme is an important welfare initiative aimed at facilitating pilgrimage for senior citizens. He said that providing organised travel, accommodation, and food enables elderly residents to undertake religious journeys comfortably and with greater convenience.

He wished all the pilgrims a safe and peaceful journey and expressed hope that they would return with cherished memories from their visit to the religious and historical sites.
