Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana conducted an inspection of the dumping grounds located at Phase 9, Phase 11, and Jagatpura in SAS Nagar Mohali to assess their current condition and identify the measures required to improve solid waste management. The visit marked one of the Mayor’s first major field inspections after assuming office, reflecting the Municipal Corporation’s immediate focus on sanitation and environmental improvement.
During the inspection, Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana reviewed the existing conditions at each dumping site and sought detailed information from Municipal Corporation officials regarding waste disposal practices, environmental concerns, and the infrastructure available for waste processing. He directed officials to prepare and implement the necessary measures to improve the functioning of the sites and minimise their impact on nearby residential areas.
The Mayor said that scientific waste management and effective pollution control are essential for maintaining a clean and healthy urban environment. He emphasised that improving dumping grounds is an important step towards strengthening Mohali’s sanitation system and creating a cleaner city for residents. The inspection also included an assessment of the infrastructure and operational requirements needed to modernise waste management facilities.
Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana instructed the concerned authorities to initiate the required improvement works without delay and ensure regular monitoring of the sites. He stressed that timely action would help reduce pollution, improve environmental conditions, and enhance the overall quality of civic services. He also underlined the importance of adopting sustainable waste management practices as Mohali continues to grow.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana said that work towards improving Mohali had begun from the very first day of his tenure as Mayor. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government is committed to strengthening urban infrastructure, improving sanitation, and creating cleaner cities across the state. He added that the Municipal Corporation is determined to transform the dumping grounds through planned improvements and effective pollution control measures so that Mohali becomes a cleaner, healthier, and more environmentally sustainable city. The inspection of the dumping grounds reflects the Municipal Corporation’s continued commitment to strengthening Mohali’s waste management infrastructure and environmental sustainability. As SAS Nagar Mohali moves forward with better sanitation, improved public services, and citizen-focused governance, initiatives aimed at reducing pollution and promoting cleanliness will remain central to the city’s long-term development.
