Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana attended the Children’s Athletics Coaching Summer Camp organised at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nature Park, Phase 8, SAS Nagar Mohali, where he encouraged young participants and appreciated the organisers for promoting sports and healthy living among children. The camp brought together children from different parts of the city to participate in athletics training and physical fitness activities during the summer vacation.
During the visit, the Mayor interacted with the children, coaches, and organisers, applauding their enthusiasm and commitment towards sports. He extended his best wishes to the young athletes and appreciated the efforts made to provide children with a structured environment where they could learn new skills, stay physically active, and develop confidence through sports.
Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana said that sports and outdoor activities play a vital role in the overall development of children. Besides improving physical fitness, regular participation in athletics helps children build discipline, teamwork, confidence, and mental resilience. He noted that initiatives such as summer coaching camps encourage children to adopt healthy lifestyles from an early age while also helping them discover and nurture their sporting talent.
The Mayor also commended the organisers for their efforts in conducting the coaching camp and creating opportunities for children to engage in constructive and recreational activities during the summer break. He said that such programmes contribute significantly to the physical and mental well-being of children while encouraging greater participation in sports at the grassroots level.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government is committed to promoting sports and creating better opportunities for young people across the state. He said that investing in children’s physical and mental development is essential for building a healthier and stronger society. He appreciated the organisers for their dedication and expressed hope that more such initiatives would be organised across Mohali to encourage children to participate in sports and outdoor activities. The summer athletics coaching camp reflects the growing emphasis on youth development and community well-being in Mohali. Alongside infrastructure development and improved public services, encouraging sports and fitness among children remains an important part of building a healthy, active, and progressive SAS Nagar Mohali.
