A special bus carrying senior citizens from Landran village in SAS Nagar Mohali was flagged off on 4 July 2026 under the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme, enabling elderly devotees to undertake a spiritual and heritage tour of Punjab’s prominent religious and historical sites. The initiative, launched under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, reflects the Punjab Government’s commitment to promoting the welfare and dignity of senior citizens by making pilgrimage accessible and convenient.
MLA Kulwant Singh participated in the flag-off ceremony and extended his best wishes to the pilgrims for a safe, comfortable, and spiritually enriching journey. The Punjab Government has made arrangements to provide all necessary facilities throughout the pilgrimage, ensuring that elderly travellers can undertake the tour without facing financial or logistical difficulties.
During the pilgrimage, the devotees will visit several renowned religious and heritage destinations, including Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Mandir, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh, and the Partition Museum, along with other places of historical and cultural significance. The tour offers senior citizens an opportunity to seek spiritual blessings while experiencing Punjab’s rich religious and historical heritage in a well-organised and secure environment.
The Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme has become an important public welfare initiative, particularly for elderly residents who may not otherwise be able to undertake such journeys independently. By providing organised transportation and essential support services, the Punjab Government is strengthening social welfare while ensuring that senior citizens can participate in religious and cultural activities with dignity and comfort. The initiative also contributes to preserving Punjab’s cultural heritage by encouraging visits to historically significant sites.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that senior citizens deserve every opportunity to undertake spiritual journeys with ease and respect. He stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government remains committed to implementing welfare initiatives that improve the quality of life for elderly citizens and strengthen community well-being. He wished all the pilgrims a peaceful journey and prayed for their good health, happiness, and spiritual fulfilment. The flag-off ceremony concluded with prayers for the safe and successful completion of the pilgrimage. Through initiatives such as the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme, the Punjab Government and MLA Kulwant Singh continue to promote public welfare, preserve cultural heritage, and enhance the lives of senior citizens across SAS Nagar Mohali
