Mohali: Two buses carrying elderly pilgrims from the Mohali constituency villages of Saidpur and Rurka were flagged off today under the Punjab Government’s Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme.

The initiative is aimed at helping senior citizens undertake organised pilgrimages to prominent religious and historical destinations across Punjab.

Pilgrims to Visit Major Religious and Historical Sites

During the pilgrimage, the senior devotees will visit several important destinations, including Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Temple, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh and the Partition Museum.

The journey will provide the pilgrims an opportunity to pay obeisance at important religious sites while also visiting places associated with Punjab’s history and heritage.

Government to Provide Accommodation and Meals

Under the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme, arrangements have been made to facilitate the journey of the elderly pilgrims. The Punjab Government will provide accommodation and meals during the pilgrimage.

The organised arrangements are intended to make the journey more convenient and comfortable for senior citizens, allowing them to focus on their religious visit without having to manage the essential travel-related arrangements themselves.

Elderly Residents Get Opportunity for Organised Pilgrimage

The departure of the two buses gave elderly residents of Saidpur and Rurka an opportunity to undertake the pilgrimage together with organised transportation and essential facilities under the government initiative.

Such programmes provide senior citizens with easier access to important religious destinations and allow residents from different parts of the state to participate in organised pilgrimage journeys.

Initiative to Promote Access to Religious and Historical Places

The Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme forms part of the Punjab Government’s efforts to facilitate travel for residents wishing to visit significant religious and historical places.

The pilgrimage from Saidpur and Rurka is expected to provide the participating senior citizens with a meaningful spiritual and cultural experience while enabling them to visit some of Punjab’s most prominent places of faith and historical importance.
