Mohali: Work to improve road conditions in Sector 80 has started with the laying of premix, offering relief to residents who have been facing inconvenience due to the deteriorated condition of the road.

The road improvement work was initiated in the sector by local councillor Satwinder Singh. The proposal for laying premix on the affected road stretch had earlier been submitted to the Mohali Municipal Corporation and has now moved forward following approval.

Premix Work Aims to Improve Road Conditions

The ongoing premix work is expected to provide a smoother and more durable riding surface, making daily movement easier for residents, motorists and two-wheeler riders.

Poorly maintained roads can create difficulties for commuters, particularly on stretches experiencing regular traffic. The road improvement work in Sector 80 is therefore expected to improve local mobility and provide better connectivity within the area.

Sector 80 Connectivity Expected to Improve

Sector 80 is one of Mohali’s developing residential areas and is connected with several surrounding neighbourhoods. With residential activity and traffic increasing, maintaining roads and other civic infrastructure has become increasingly important.

The completion of the premix work is expected to make everyday commuting more convenient and improve the overall condition of the affected stretch.

Underground Drainage Proposal Submitted for Phase 9

Alongside the road improvement work, a separate long-standing drainage-related concern has also been raised. A proposal has been submitted to cover underground the dirty water flowing through a drain in Phase 9.

The exposed drain has reportedly been causing foul smells and inconvenience for residents living in the surrounding area. The issue has remained a concern for some time, prompting efforts to explore a more permanent solution.

Proposal Could Address Wastewater and Foul Smell Issues

The proposed underground drainage solution is aimed at covering the exposed wastewater flow and reducing the problems associated with the open drain.

If approved and implemented, the work could help improve hygiene and the surrounding environment while reducing inconvenience for nearby residents. It could also contribute to better overall civic conditions in the area.

Focus on Roads and Drainage Infrastructure

Road maintenance and drainage systems play an important role in maintaining urban infrastructure. Proper drainage is particularly important for protecting roads from waterlogging and damage, helping newly resurfaced roads remain in better condition for a longer period.

The simultaneous focus on road improvement and drainage-related concerns highlights the need for coordinated civic development in growing areas of Mohali.

More Civic Works Expected

According to the local councillor, efforts are continuing to address the drainage issue along with other development requirements in the area. Additional civic works are expected to be taken up as proposals move through the necessary process.

For residents of Sector 80, the beginning of premix work marks an important step towards improving local road infrastructure. Attention will now remain on the timely completion of the roadwork and further progress on the proposed underground drainage solution.

As Mohali’s newer sectors continue to expand, regular maintenance of roads, drainage networks and other basic civic facilities will remain essential for improving the quality of urban life and keeping pace with growing residential and traffic needs.
