Senior citizens from Phase 9, SAS Nagar Mohali, embarked on a spiritual journey under the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme on 23 July 2026. The pilgrimage began with an Ardaas (prayer), following which the pilgrims were flagged off with best wishes for a safe, comfortable, and spiritually enriching journey.
Under the Punjab Government’s flagship welfare initiative, the elderly pilgrims will visit some of Punjab’s most revered religious and historical landmarks, including Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Temple, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh, and the Partition Museum. The scheme enables senior citizens to undertake these pilgrimages without bearing any financial burden while also providing an opportunity to experience the state’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage.
The Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme has been introduced to ensure that senior citizens can fulfil their religious aspirations with dignity and convenience. Throughout the journey, the Punjab Government is providing free transportation, accommodation, meals, and all other essential arrangements, ensuring that the pilgrims can travel comfortably and safely.
Before the departure, MLA Kulwant Singh interacted with the senior citizens and their family members, extending his best wishes for the pilgrimage. He appreciated the Punjab Government’s continued commitment to the welfare of elderly citizens through initiatives that combine social care with spiritual well-being.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme reflects the Punjab Government’s commitment to serving senior citizens with respect and dignity. He stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, every effort is being made to ensure that elderly citizens can undertake pilgrimages without worrying about travel or other expenses. He added that such welfare initiatives strengthen the bond between the government and the people while preserving Punjab’s rich spiritual traditions. The pilgrimage bus departed from Phase 9 after the Ardaas amid warm wishes from family members and local residents. Through the Chief Minister Tirath Yatra Scheme, the Punjab Government and MLA Kulwant Singh continue to promote inclusive public welfare by making religious travel accessible, safe, and comfortable for senior citizens across the Mohali constituency.
