Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana attended the inauguration of a Community Mental Health Clinic at Gurdwara Sri Kalgidhar Singh Sabha, Phase 4, SAS Nagar Mohali. The initiative was launched through the efforts of Councillor Gurmukh Singh Sohal Ji, President of the Gurdwara Sri Kalgidhar Singh Sabha, under the guidance of Amarjit Singh Ji. The clinic has been established to provide accessible mental health support to the community through regular voluntary service.
The newly opened clinic will offer Nishkam Seva every Monday, with experienced psychiatrist Dr. Harinder Hareji providing consultation and guidance to individuals seeking mental health support. The initiative aims to create greater awareness about mental well-being while making professional assistance more accessible to people in the community.
Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana appreciated the efforts of the organisers, volunteers, and the Gurdwara management for launching such a meaningful public welfare initiative. He said that while people often prioritise physical health, mental well-being is equally important and deserves greater attention. Community-based initiatives like this clinic help reduce stigma around mental health and encourage people to seek timely guidance and support.
The Mayor noted that religious institutions have long played an important role in serving society through education, healthcare, and community welfare. He said that the establishment of the mental health clinic reflects the spirit of selfless service and demonstrates how community organisations can contribute to improving the overall well-being of citizens.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Sarabjeet Singh Samana said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government continues to encourage initiatives that strengthen public welfare and improve access to essential services. He congratulated Councillor Gurmukh Singh Sohal Ji, Amarjit Singh Ji, the Gurdwara management, and all the volunteers for their commendable efforts in establishing the clinic. He assured the organisers of his full support and said he would continue to stand with them in every effort aimed at promoting the health and well-being of the people of Mohali. The inauguration of the Community Mental Health Clinic marks an important step towards expanding community healthcare services in SAS Nagar Mohali.
