A special pilgrimage bus carrying senior citizens from Sector 91, SAS Nagar Mohali, was flagged off on 3 July 2026 under the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme, an important welfare initiative of the Punjab Government aimed at enabling elderly citizens to undertake spiritual journeys with comfort and dignity. The programme reflects the government’s continued commitment to the welfare of senior citizens under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

MLA Kulwant Singh participated in the flag-off ceremony and conveyed his best wishes to the pilgrims for a safe, comfortable, and spiritually fulfilling journey. Under the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme, the Punjab Government has made comprehensive arrangements to provide all necessary facilities to the devotees throughout the tour, ensuring that senior citizens can undertake the pilgrimage without financial or logistical concerns.

As part of the pilgrimage, the devotees will visit several of Punjab’s most revered religious and historical landmarks, including Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Mandir, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal, Jallianwala Bagh, and the Partition Museum, along with other sites of historical and cultural significance. The journey offers participants an opportunity to seek spiritual blessings while experiencing the state’s rich religious heritage and history.

The Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme has become an important public welfare initiative for senior citizens across Punjab. By providing organised transportation, travel assistance, and essential facilities, the scheme enables elderly residents to undertake meaningful religious journeys in a safe and well-managed environment. The initiative also promotes social inclusion while encouraging greater appreciation of Punjab’s spiritual and historical heritage.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that senior citizens deserve respect, care, and opportunities to fulfil their spiritual aspirations. He stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government is committed to implementing welfare initiatives that improve the quality of life of elderly citizens and ensure that they can undertake pilgrimages with dignity and convenience. He wished all the devotees a peaceful journey and prayed for their good health, happiness, and spiritual well-being. The flag-off ceremony concluded with prayers for the safe completion of the pilgrimage. Through initiatives such as the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme, the Punjab Government and MLA Kulwant Singh continue to strengthen public welfare, preserve Punjab’s rich cultural and religious heritage, and enhance the well-being of senior citizens across SAS Nagar Mohali.
