A major step towards strengthening women’s welfare infrastructure in SAS Nagar Mohali was taken on 19 June 2026 with the laying of the foundation stone for a new Working Women Hostel in Sector 66. The project was launched under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in the presence of Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur, reflecting the Punjab Government’s commitment to providing safe and modern accommodation for working women.
MLA Kulwant Singh participated in the foundation stone-laying ceremony, which marks the beginning of an important public infrastructure project aimed at supporting women who have moved to Mohali for employment and professional opportunities. As Mohali continues to emerge as a major centre for information technology, education, healthcare, and business, the demand for secure and well-equipped accommodation for working women has steadily increased. The new hostel is expected to address this need while promoting greater independence and confidence among women professionals.
The proposed Working Women Hostel will provide a safe and convenient residential facility equipped with essential amenities for women employed in different sectors. The initiative is expected to benefit professionals, healthcare workers, teachers, government employees, and women working in the private sector by offering secure accommodation close to workplaces and educational institutions. Such infrastructure plays an important role in encouraging women’s participation in the workforce while contributing to inclusive urban development.
The project forms part of the Punjab Government’s broader vision of improving public infrastructure and expanding welfare initiatives across Mohali. Alongside investments in roads, healthcare, education, water supply, and citizen services, special emphasis is being placed on projects that directly improve the quality of life and create a more inclusive environment for women. The Working Women Hostel is expected to become an important community asset supporting both social welfare and economic development.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that creating safe and accessible accommodation for working women is essential for building an inclusive and progressive society. He stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government is committed to strengthening public infrastructure and implementing initiatives that promote women’s welfare and empowerment. He added that the Working Women Hostel in Sector 66 will provide long-term benefits to women professionals while further enhancing Mohali’s urban infrastructure.
The foundation stone-laying ceremony marked another milestone in Mohali Development. Through continued investment in women’s welfare, public infrastructure, and citizen-focused initiatives, the Punjab Government and MLA Kulwant Singh remain committed to building a safer, more inclusive, and better-connected SAS Nagar Mohali.
