A drug awareness campaign aimed at promoting a healthy and drug-free society was launched in Mohali on June 13, 2026. The initiative was started by area coordinators Jagjit Singh, Kanwaljit Singh, and their team with the objective of spreading awareness among residents about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encouraging people to actively support efforts to make communities safer and healthier.
The campaign was formally flagged off in the presence of local residents, volunteers, and community members. The programme seeks to reach different sections of society and spread the message of staying away from drugs through awareness activities and public engagement. The initiative is focused on educating people about the social, health, and economic consequences of substance abuse while encouraging community participation in prevention efforts.
Drug abuse has long been recognized as a challenge that affects families, communities, and society as a whole. Awareness campaigns play an important role in addressing the issue by providing information, encouraging dialogue, and motivating individuals to make positive choices. Such efforts are particularly important for young people, who can benefit from guidance, support, and opportunities that promote healthy lifestyles and constructive activities.
The campaign in Mohali aims to create greater awareness at the grassroots level by encouraging residents to become active participants in building a drug-free environment. Community-based initiatives help strengthen collective responsibility and ensure that awareness messages reach a wider audience. Through regular interaction with citizens, organizers hope to encourage greater understanding of the importance of prevention and early intervention.
Mohali has witnessed continuous progress in areas such as education, infrastructure, sports, and community development. Efforts to promote social awareness and public welfare complement these development initiatives by contributing to the overall well-being of residents. A healthy and informed society plays a key role in supporting sustainable development and creating a positive environment for future generations.
Under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government has placed significant emphasis on combating drug abuse through awareness campaigns, enforcement measures, rehabilitation support, and community participation. Public involvement remains an important element of these efforts, as long-term success depends on collective action by citizens, institutions, and local communities.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that awareness is one of the most effective tools in the fight against drug abuse. He appreciated the efforts of Jagjit Singh, Kanwaljit Singh, and their entire team for taking the initiative to spread awareness among the public and encourage positive social change.
He further stated that protecting the youth and strengthening communities requires continuous public engagement and cooperation. He encouraged residents to support anti-drug initiatives and work together to create a healthier and safer future for coming generations. According to him, community participation is essential in building a drug-free Mohali and strengthening social well-being. The launch of the awareness campaign marks another step towards encouraging responsible citizenship and promoting public welfare in the constituency. As the campaign reaches different parts of Mohali, it is expected to help spread awareness, inspire positive action, and contribute towards the shared goal of creating a drug-free and progressive society
