Municipal Corporation elections play a vital role in strengthening grassroots democracy and ensuring effective local governance. Councillors elected by residents serve as a bridge between the public and municipal authorities, helping address local concerns and ensuring that development projects are implemented according to community needs. Their role becomes increasingly important as Mohali continues to expand and urbanize.
During the campaign, emphasis was placed on the importance of electing representatives who remain accessible to the people and work consistently for the welfare of their wards. Community engagement and citizen participation are essential for ensuring responsive governance and achieving sustainable urban development.
Mohali has emerged as one of Punjab’s fastest-growing cities, creating increasing demand for better civic infrastructure and efficient public services. Continued investment in local development, combined with active public participation, is necessary for addressing these challenges and improving the quality of life for residents.
Under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government has focused on strengthening local governance institutions and improving citizen services. Municipal representatives are expected to play an important role in supporting these efforts by working closely with residents and contributing to community development initiatives.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that local development requires dedicated leadership, public participation, and a commitment to addressing the everyday concerns of residents. He encouraged citizens to actively participate in the democratic process and support candidates who are committed to serving their communities.
He further expressed confidence that S. Baljit Singh Vicky and Bibi Kulwinder Kaur would work diligently for the people of Wards 48 and 49 and contribute towards improving civic services and infrastructure in their respective areas. He assured residents that continued efforts would be made to ensure all-round development and better public facilities for local communities.
The campaign concluded with interactions between residents and local leaders, reflecting the importance of citizen engagement in shaping the future of local governance. As Mohali moved towards the Municipal Corporation elections, the focus remained on strengthening public services, improving infrastructure, and ensuring development that benefits every section of society.
