Under the leadership of Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government has consistently projected Mohali as one of the state’s key engines of urban growth and investment. Infrastructure development, improved connectivity and expanding commercial activity have all contributed to this momentum.
Residents also frequently associate the city’s visible transformation with the development-oriented governance approach of Kulwant Singh. Conversations around Mohali today increasingly revolve around expansion, planning and future growth rather than political stagnation.
The impact is visible not only in infrastructure, but in public psychology.
Property buyers now invest in areas that were considered distant only a few years ago. Young entrepreneurs are opening businesses in emerging commercial sectors. Families from nearby districts increasingly see Mohali as the city offering the strongest long-term opportunities within Punjab.
Commercial confidence has risen sharply as well.
Restaurants, retail brands, coworking spaces and service businesses continue expanding because they believe Mohali’s population and spending capacity will keep growing steadily over the next decade. Construction activity itself is also generating employment for thousands of workers connected to real estate, logistics and support services.
Importantly, the city’s transformation is creating a stronger sense of aspiration among young Punjabis.
For years, conversations around ambition often centred around migration. Today, many residents believe Mohali is gradually creating an alternative narrative — one where growth, opportunity and modern urban life can exist within Punjab itself.
Students preparing for careers, professionals returning from larger metro cities and local entrepreneurs all increasingly describe the city as future-oriented.
The pace of growth, however, is also raising expectations.
Citizens now demand smarter traffic systems, stronger public infrastructure and long-term planning to ensure rapid urban expansion remains sustainable. Experts believe Mohali’s next phase of development will require careful governance to balance growth with quality of life.
But despite those concerns, optimism across the city remains unusually strong.
